Qualifying To Become a Real Estate Broker
1) To become licensed as a California Real Estate Broker, you must first meet ONE of the following General Requirements:
- Minimum of two years full time employment as a Real Estate Salesperson within the past five years.
- OR a four year degree which includes either a major or minor in Real Estate.

2) Then you must fulfill the following Educational Requirements:
Successful completion of 8 Statutory Courses prior to taking the State Broker's exam.
- Real Estate Practice
- Legal Aspects of Real Estate
- Real Estate Finance
- Real Estate Appraisal
- Real Estate Economics
- Real Estate Principles
- Property Management
- Escrows
- Real Estate Appraisal
- Real Estate Office Administration
All the above Broker qualifying courses listed above are available from our school.
*Note: The BRE will usually accept courses in the above topics completed at an accredited college, even if it was many years ago. The most typical courses are college level economics or accounting. A transcript is required. Previously completed courses from approved Real Estate Schools also count toward the requirement. Please contact us with any questions regarding broker's licensing. - First, determine if there are classes you have already completed, either for Real Estate Salesperson Licensing, or as part of a college degree (must have transcript available).
- Review the list above, and determine which courses are needed to complete the 8 course requirement. Keep in mind the five required courses.
- Take advantage of our broker's package discounts, and choose the package below with the number of courses you need for your broker's requirement.
- After choosing your package, you will complete your selections by choosing your specific courses.
